Ok, as you all know, I've been on dial up, never had a problem with winmx. But now I got dsl and no matter what I try, no one can upload from me:-( What happen? no router at the moment, just a direct connection with my pc, going to get a network switch, cause I could not get the router to work with my new dsl. And that's what my new isp told me I needed instead of the router. (I have 2 other pc's I need to network) Love my new download speed:-)))) But hate being a leech:-(((
Can someone help?

Hey LavaGale... I would love to help ya out with this.. but i think we need more info

I am curious.. you say "I've tried everything".. ermm could you elaberate on what "everything" is ..lol

I agree with KM, does sound like a firewall not allowing a TCP connection on that port.. have a look at this section...

I run 98se, shut sygate firewall down completely even though I used it just fine with winmx when I was on dial up. Can't use my router cause my isp says my modem they gave me has a built in router. So I am directly connected at the moment, going to get a network switch so I can hook up my other 2 pc's. I've tried changing port numbers, even the 443, 1024, 1032 , putting a 1 in front of them, a 2, etc. Downloads great, but no uploads:-((

Yup, that sounds like it... the web site you need is http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm Go there and find the model of modem you have. You'll find all the instructions for forwarding your ports in nice easy step by step instructions with lotsa pictures.

Also, is your new DSL modem connected to a network card on your PC or to a USB port? USB and WinMX don't seem very happy together for some reason - the setup wizard doesn't seem to find the connection and so reports you as 'firewalled' even if you're not.

USB modems dont work well with computers - its not something specific to certain software. I think the biggest problem people face is the modem turning off randomly because their USB controller cant handle it, but there are also many other issues that some ISP's dont seem to care about (although thankfuly a lot of ISP's that used to be pushing USB modems realised pretty quickly that they where causing half of their problems and started suggesting people connect them to a NIC instead)
